THE JOY OF THE LORD
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10 KJV)
In times of trial and hardship, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. The weight of life’s challenges can seem too heavy to bear, and joy can feel like a distant reality. Yet, Nehemiah reminds us that the joy of the Lord is not just a fleeting feeling but a profound source of strength.
The joy of the Lord transcends our circumstances. It’s not based on our successes or failures, but on the unwavering goodness and faithfulness of God. This joy is rooted in the knowledge that we are loved unconditionally and that God’s plans for us are filled with hope.
When we embrace the joy of the Lord, we allow His strength to sustain us through our struggles, trials and temptations. This joy empowers us to face difficulties with a renewed spirit and a resilient heart. It shifts our focus from our problems to the promise of God’s presence and provision.
Scripture for the day
