FOCUS ON GOD, NOT THE STORM
“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” (Matthew 14:29-30 KJV)
In life, there will always be storms; moments when challenges seem overwhelming, and circumstances appear beyond our control. But just like Peter, who walked on water when he fixed his eyes on Jesus, we can rise above the turmoil around us. The moment Peter shifted his focus from Jesus to the raging wind, he began to sink. This teaches us that our focus matters. When we fix our eyes on God, rather than the storm, we find the strength and peace to endure.
God does not promise that storms will never come, but He does promise His presence in the midst of them. Focusing on the waves of worry, fear, and doubt only magnifies their power over us. But when we focus on God, His Word, and His promises, we see His power at work in the storm. It is in these moments that we remember that the One who calms the seas is also the One who holds us. His peace is not the absence of storms but the assurance that He is with us through every trial.
The storms may seem fierce, but they are not greater than the God who walks with us through them. As we shift our focus from the winds of trouble to the presence of Jesus, we find our faith strengthened. The same God who brought us through past challenges is faithful to bring us through the present ones. Let His presence be the anchor that holds you steady when the waves rise.
Scripture for the Day
Isaiah 26:3 KJV
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
