WINNING OVER WORRIES
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 KJV)
Worry is an experience common to human beings. Worry comes as a thought that creeps the human mind and heart, dwelling there for so long that it begins to disrupt the peace and joy of the carrier. Worry is a weight; and whether it is concerning the future, personal challenges, or uncertainties in our lives, the weight worry is often overwhelming.
The good news is that we have sound prescriptions from scriptures on how to overcome worries and find lasting peace. 1 Peter 5:7 instructs us to cast all our anxieties on God, as He cares deeply for us. You must consciously and deliberately cast your worries and anxieties on God. The image of casting is intentional and deliberate. Just as a fisherman casts his net into the water, we are called to throw our worries on God. This act of surrender acknowledges that we cannot carry these burdens alone and that God is both willing and able to handle them.
To cast your cares effectively, start by identifying the things that bring you worry. Take a mental note of them or write them down, if necessary. Bring them before God in prayer and trust that He cares for you and is working on your behalf, even when you cannot see it. Worry does not solve a thing. God is your solution provider!
