THE PAIN FOR DOUBTERS

“Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.” (John 20:27 KJV)

Doubt is a natural part of the human experience, often accompanied by pain and uncertainty. This struggle can be especially profound in the context of faith. Our opening scripture shows how Thomas, a disciple of Jesus Christ, grappled with doubt. This was someone who experienced the physical and spiritual manifestations of Christ. It goes to show that faith is a personal journey. Your own faith in God’s Word is what saves you.

Doubt can be painful, causing inner turmoil and spiritual distress. You can only imagine what Thomas must have gone through in his mind after he was later confronted with the reality that Christ had resurrected from the dead after his initial doubt. While it is true that doubt brings some level of pain, whenever you find yourself in such a situation, do not allow it to lead to despair. The instant remedy is to speak forth the Word of God by faith and take that situation to God in prayer.

We are encouraged to bring our worries and doubts to God through prayer and thanksgiving. This act of surrendering one’s concerns to God opens the door to divine peace, which surpasses all human understanding. God’s promise to us is that His peace will guard our hearts and minds, providing stability and assurance even in times of uncertainty.
