THE DEVIL’S STRATEGIES
“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1 KJV)
The devil has many strategies he deploys when it comes to his dealings with humans. The Bible says that he comes to kill, to steal and to destroy. However, one important strategy that the devil uses is ignorance. We see this from the very beginning when he deceived Eve by asking her “hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”, to which Eve replied that “… We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” (Genesis 3:2-3).
The devil tries to manipulate you by giving a sense of half-truths to the truth of God’s Word or by preying on areas where he knows you are ignorant. From Genesis 3:4, we further see the devil telling Eve that, “Ye shall not surely die” and that “God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5).
There is no greater master at deception than the devil, which is why scripture describes him as the father of lies (John 8:44). However, the beautiful thing is that God has given us the ability to see through the gimmicks of the devil and ride above it with the Word as our necessary weapon. Whenever you hear or sense the deceptive tactics of the devil or whenever you begin to sense doubt creeping into your life, use the Word to your advantage. To have enough Word to do battle in the day of trouble, you need to inculcate the habit of studying the Word. Set time aside daily to make the Word of God your priority.
Scripture for the day
Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Confession
The devil is eternally defeated in my life, family, ministry and business, in Jesus’ Name.
