FRIENDS AND FOES
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44 KJV)
In our walk of faith, we will have to navigate a complex web of relationships. We experience the joy of friendships and the challenges of conflicts. However, both offer unique opportunities to reflect God’s love and grace.
Our friends are the companions who walk alongside us whether in times of joy or in times of sorrow. Friends help us understand and relate with God’s unconditional love. However, as with every good thing in life sometimes comes the opposite. You will not always meet friends along your journey of life; you will also encounter foes. Encountering foes or adversaries can be one of the most challenging aspects of life.
It is easy to love those who love you, but the real test of your faith comes when you face those who oppose you whether at work, in business or even at home. As we see from our opening scripture, Jesus calls us to love our enemies and also be kind and generous to those who hate us. Remember, your foes are not the real enemies. The devil is the real enemy. Live a life of love with all men!
