CONTROL YOUR TONGUE
“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.” (James 1:26 KJV)
The tongue is one of the smallest organs of the body yet has the power to set a whole nation on fire. James 3:5-6 says, “A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything–or destroy it! It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.”
To control your tongue is to say only what is appropriate and beneficial to all who will hear your words.
You can think what you want, but what comes out from your mouth is what you will be defined by. It is therefore imperative for us as Christians to think first before speaking and not the other way round.
