BIBLICAL WISDOM FOR DECISION-MAKING
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5 KJV)
Every day, we are confronted with making different kinds of decisions. They could be small, big, or life-changing. As a believer, you have the advantage of seeking God’s face before making any of such decisions. You should apply biblical wisdom at all times and engage the help of the Holy Spirit to avoid making costly mistakes about your life, family, business or assignment.
Worldly wisdom urges us to rely on your instincts, logic or popular opinion to make “informed decisions”. However, Godly wisdom prevents us from falling into error. This is why the Bible admonishes us to acknowledge God in all our ways and He will give us direction (Proverbs 3:6). The beginning of wise decision-making is a humble heart, admitting that your perspective is limited and that you need God’s guidance to see what you cannot see.
Proverbs 11:14 says: “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Before making major decisions, saturate the matter in prayer. Search the Scriptures for Godly principles. Seek advice from mature believers who know you and love God. Pay attention to peace in your spirit. A wise decision honours God, aligns with Scripture and leads you closer to Christ, whether or not it feels comfortable. The Lord will guide your steps!

Proverbs 2:6-7 KJV
For the LORD giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.”
Confession
Godly wisdom is available to me. I acknowledge God in all my ways, and He directs my paths daily, in Jesus’ Name.
Prophetic Prayers
- I receive grace for supernatural wisdom for every decision I face in my life, in Jesus’ Name.
- I declare that I am free from confusion and error. The Spirit of wisdom and revelation guides my steps with clarity at all times, in Jesus’ Name.
- I declare that I am surrounded by wise counselors who protect me from pride and isolation that lead to foolish decisions, in Jesus’ Name.
