THE HEART OF A LION

The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1 KJV)

Boldness is not only synonymous with men who go to war in military uniforms or men who go hunting animals in the wild. It is also a distinctive characteristic of every believer in Christ. It took a high level of courage for the apostles and prophets of old to stand their ground identifying with Christ, professing His Lordship and preaching the gospel even in the most dangerous and terrifying locations and circumstances.

Christ also wouldn’t have fulfilled His earthly mission without a lion heart, or was it easy facing the cross? Fear cripples faith and makes mockery of it. This is why God’s command to us to be strong and courageous is not a mere suggestion. He knows that those who will take advantage of their faith in Christ and live up to their fullest potential will be people who are willing to step out in faith even when the path they tread appears unclear.

Having a lion heart entails standing firm in your belief as a Christian, walking the lonely route of righteousness even when others would take the easy way out in sin and comfort. A bold heart will embrace the challenges that come with being seen as “holier than thou”, a weakling or “old school” even when they are simply following the instructions laid down in scriptures. A believer with a lion heart may be abused, scorned at, mocked at or even sidelined. But ultimately, that person who persists in faith will please the Lord greatly.
