 WALKING IN INTEGRITY

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10 KJV)

Integrity begins with walking in truth. To live a life of integrity means to live honestly and transparently before God and others. Our private and public lives should align. God promises that when we walk in integrity, we are secure. This security comes not from our own strength, but from knowing that we are living according to God’s principles as enshrined in His Word. God cares about the small things in our lives.

Living with integrity means being faithful in the seemingly insignificant details—whether it’s being honest with our time, fulfilling commitments, or handling finances with care. The little things matter to God, and they reveal the character of our heart. Luke 16:10 (NIV) says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

Temptation can come in many forms: the temptation to lie, to cheat, or to take the easy way out. When we are guided by integrity, it helps us to make the right decisions even when it’s hard. God honours those who choose to do what is right, even when no one is looking or seeing. Our words are a powerful reflection of our integrity. Jesus teaches that we should let your “yes” be “yes” and our “no” be “no.” This means that we should speak truthfully and follow through on our commitments. Our words should align with our actions. “All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37 NIV).
