POWER OF SPOKEN WORDS
“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” (Philemon 1:6 KJV)
The Bible makes us understand that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Spoken words are so critical in the life of all men. Our journey in Christ, even though guided by the Holy Spirit, is galvanized with our tongue. Even when the Holy Spirit came, tongues were the first means of physical manifestation.
Our opening scripture tells us that our faith is made effective when we acknowledge every good thing we have in Christ. Having understood our inheritance in Christ, we must confess it regularly regarding ourselves and others. The Bible enjoins us to let our speech be seasoned with grace, this is in both content and delivery.
Because we carry divinity in us; our words carry power. Like God our Father, we must hold this Word in high regard, that is, meaning what we speak and speaking what we mean. This helps in the exercising of our faith. The tongue must be bridled so it steers our lives on the right course.
